I don't know if my 3-year-old really believes my kisses can heal his boo-boos, but I know he comes to me with every bump and bruise, his arm or toe or chin held out to wait for me to kiss them, to make it okay again. There are so many problems I cannot solve, so much uncertainty, but I know I can kiss this bit of pain away, and something about that makes me feel like maybe I can face the rest of it.

This is such a tender and poignant poem, A. Thank you for sharing it. The powerlessness so many of us are feeling right now is so real, and can be truly excruciating. Yet, as your poem says, we are not helpless, and the kissing, whether real or metaphorical, is also real - a real balm for the hurts. Thank you for "kissing" us with your words. <3
